What if you paid people to do what they already want to do?
I've done some freelancing at different times, and I always had this feeling that most of the time I was doing not what interested me, but what the client needed. I think it's like this for most freelancers, especially if you haven't built up your reputation yet — you're more often paid for the pain, not for the pleasure. And the real horror is that this is perceived as normal.
Also, over the last 5 years I've had quite a few attempts to earn money online, but I realized that I'm not interested in selling or building a brand for monetization, but simply doing what I like for myself, while sharing the result for free. If someone pays for my work, I won't refuse, I'm not against money and earnings, but for some reason I'm not very interested in searching for and chasing after clients and customers.
And recently, while thinking about this, an idea came to my mind. At first, it seemed more like a joke to me, but I think that's precisely because I have this martyr image, where I must perform uninteresting work for money, because otherwise there's almost no other way.
The idea is to create a different type of marketplace, I don't have a name for the concept, something like "anti-freelance" or "interest marketplace". The point is that anyone who wants can come and post what they would like to do, what would be interesting for them to do. I mean some activity that could potentially be useful to others. Then a client can come and pay for the offer they need, or place a bid. Freelancers voice their interests, and clients pay for them.
Freelancers can have different motivations, for example, a person simply doesn't have time, but they can free it up for money, or there are other stronger interests, but if they're offered payment for a weaker interest, it will become stronger. The main thing is that the person would do this anyway without any rewards.
For clients, the motivation can be simply to get what they need, or for example, charitable purposes. Why would they go to such a marketplace then? The important difference is precisely in people motivated by their own interest. They will delve into the problem and likely already have good knowledge about it, they will work much more efficiently, spending less time, and the result will not be just a mediocre delivery of an order, but a product made with love.
I don't yet have the goal of thinking through the architecture, implementation, and pitfalls. Just an idea. Maybe it's just a joke. Or maybe, something new is born from things like this.
